The Burning of Moscow of 1812
A tribute to War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy

In The Burning of Moscow of 1812, we honor the great literary work of Leo Tolstoy in War & Peace. In a book that's 1500 pages long, the most beautiful pages are about the evacuation of Moscow and the burning of the city. The spirit of Tolstoy is present all through the documentary.

Throughout the documentary we use literature, great visual footage and a compelling musical theme to retrace one the most memorable events of Russian history. We recount the Franco-Russian relations at the beginning of nineteenth century. And, the importance of the city of Moscow for the Russians. We directly refer to personalities such as Caulaincourt who witnessed the burning of the city. We use the great literary minds of the time such as Chateaubriand and Madame de Staël to reflect on the importance of the event.
